This week I have been pretty motivated to take pictures. I just felt like I lost my touch. I couldn't take a picture that I was proud to show. Most just did not come out like I envision them to.
I walked all around my neighborhood and up and down my streets trying to see if I could take one super good picture that I could upload. It was really hard investing all that time into your pictures and them not turning out right. Transferring all your photos onto the computer and the all the editing time is not a quick process. My next idea was to head up to Tanglewood and see if I could take some good pictures there. I ended up taking some really good pictures that I am proud to upload. Just had to push through all the unusual stars from people watching me take the pictures and the heat. This week was the most pictures I have taken yet. I think I edited and sorted through over 50 pictures. Check out my Week 5 section in my Gallery to see my favorites. I am still nervous of me getting bored on taking nature pictures. They are very pretty but again, I am trying to get a broad spectrum of content. I hope to start taking some pictures of people soon. I hope some of my friends will agree to help and be my models. Overall I learned quite a lot this week. For example, I learned that the picture will not always come to you easy. You may have to go out and walk a little ways for it. Like I did a Tanglewood. I also learned that you should ever give up even though it may be aggravating. Thank you for all the support! Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy.

This whole Coronavirus thing is going to make me go insane. It is really messing up my plans to do special things for my genius hour project. I can not go to different places to take photos anymore. My list of locations for artsy pictures is going to have to be put on hold for the time being.
What I am trying to do is stay around my neighborhood and take some naturistic pictures. My only fear with this is that my gallery and feed on my Instagram is going to be over taken with only nature pictures. This is not what I want because I want variety. The only way to improve my skill is to be put in different situations and go out of my comfort zone. I just need to stay motivated and looking for good picture opportunities when they come. On a more positive note, I am very happy with the steady following I am receiving over on my Instagram. Now the only thing that I really need is follower feedback. I would like to find out if people are actually enjoying the content that I am putting out. I would also like to find out if there is anything that I could improve on in my pictures. I am optimistic that I will still be able to keep up with my project over these uncertain times that we are facing. I am praying that y'all stay healthy and staying busy. Maybe take this time to take up a new hobby like I am. Thank you for all the positivity! This week I decide to focus on texture. I really stepped out of my confort zone doing this. I usually stick with the nature or building pictures, but this week I decide to switch it up.
I surprised myself when the thought of getting texture pictures from things like paint or crayons popped in my mind. My brain first went to the idea of using paint. So I globbed on some on a piece of paper, but in the end they did not turn out as I hoped. My next thought was to use crayons and color pencils. So I scribbled on a piece of blank paper and went to do my thing. I was super surprised to say the least when I saw the outcome of the pictures. They were actually really cool. The way the color streaked and the pigment built up was really interesting to look as in close up. With editing I was really proud of myself. I know that I am making progress thought this project because 3 weeks ago I would have never thought to scribbling on a paper to see the texture of crayons in a photo. My eye for good pictures has really improved in my option. I now catch myself driving down the road looking at things I can take pictures of later. My minds always looking for artsy looking places or things. I should be able to ramp up my content because of the closeing of schools and the canceling of all sports. Because of this and the daylight saving time change I will be able to get outside more often to take photos. Overall, I am very excited to keep seeing progress with my pictures. I hope you all have a wonderful week! Remember to wash your hands! P.S- Remember to keep up with my instagram for content you may not see on my blogs. Please do not be afraid to comment of what kind of pictures you want to be seeing me take or any feedback you may have. Thanks! This week was another struggle, lets just say that. Busy seems to be my middle name these days. With four softball games this week and practice every day its hard to find time that I can go out and take pictures. I can't exactly go out in the dark and that seems to be about the time I get home everyday. With the time change I hope that this will allow me more daylight hours to take photos.
I decide that I couldn't just not upload any progress photos for this week so I dug through my camera to find some old photos I had taken over the summer. You can find them in my gallery under Week 2 or over on my Instagram. I have quickly taken a liking to editing my pictures. I love to see the transformation of the beginnning to the end. There is something so satifiying to see a picture go from alright to actually high quality looking. The app that I am using to using to edit all my pictures is called Instasize. Another aspect of this project that I am struggling with is the use of a camera. When I am at my moms house I have one camera that is a later model at my disposal. The only problem with this camera is that it does not take as clear of photos as I would like since it is a later model. On the flip side of things I am able to use a nicer camera that my stepmom owns only at my dads house. Because of this I am trying to decide if I should just use my phone while I am at my moms house or stick with the old camera and just use the nicer camera at my dads house. Overall I'm am still very motivated to keep going strong though this project and seeing my process. I promise to ramp up my content soon! This week did not go as planned lets just say that. I was excited to get out there and start taking pictures, and I thought it would be easy. But as usual life got in the way of that.
I thought that I would be able to get outside everyday after practice and take pictures of my surrounds or whatever caught my eye in the moment. But I got busy like usually and did not follow through with my goal. I got tired after practice and just wanted to go home, and not to mention that it was so cold. Too cold for me to want to be outside more than I had to. I still had zero photos to show for Week 1 of my Genius Hour. Its not like I was not looking for oppurtunitys to take candid photos. My eye for pretty picture locations was not working like it usually does. Of course my luck would run like that. Finally, after a week of non stop practices, school work, and projects. It was finally Satuday and I had nothing but time on my hands to go out and get some awesome photos (or so I thought). I convinced my sister into going into Mocksville with me and we set off. I was feeling so motivated, so confident. That all changed when I got out of the car. It felt like it had dropped 10 degrees and the wind was blowing oh so hard. Of course my sister took this as a opportunity to complain. But I pushed though all the negatives. Searching for picture locations that would look rustic and artsy. After some time walking I decided that I did not come at a good time of day. The lighting was all wrong. But I knew that today was my only chance to get photos. So I took some and prayed that editing would be enough to save them. To my surprising the editing part of the process was not as difficult as I had imagined. The only thing I had to figure out was how to get the photos from the camera, to the computer, to my phone then back to the computer. Overall I learned a ton this week. I learned that the time of day you take your pictures is very important. I also learned that you need to plan you photo locations. And most impotantly I learned how to transfer photos from camera to computer to my phone then back to the computer. |
